eDPI Calculator (Effective DPI)

eDPI is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. Enter both to get one number you can compare with other players and your own setups.

Quick answer

eDPI = DPI × in-game sensitivity. A higher eDPI means a faster cursor. Add a second setup to see how much faster or slower it is.

How to use the eDPI Calculator

  1. Enter DPI and sensitivity

Use the DPI from your mouse software and the sensitivity from your game's settings.

  2. Pick your game

The cm/360 shown depends on the game's yaw, so pick the one you play.

  3. Compare a second setup

Optionally enter another DPI and sensitivity to see the ratio.

What eDPI is and how it's calculated

eDPI stands for effective DPI. Your mouse sends a number of counts per inch (DPI), and the game multiplies those by its sensitivity setting, so the product of the two tells you how far the view turns per inch of mouse movement. That makes a setup of 400 DPI at 0.8 the same speed as 1600 DPI at 0.2: both are 320 eDPI.

eDPI is only comparable within the same game, or between games that share the same yaw, because each game has its own constant. To compare across games, use the sensitivity converter, which works in cm/360. The calculator also shows cm/360 for the game you pick, so you can see the real hand movement behind the number.

800 DPI×0.4 sens=320 eDPI
The eDPI formula. eDPI multiplies your mouse DPI by your in-game sensitivity so setups can be compared with one number.

Worked examples

These are straight multiplications, shown to make the formula concrete. They aren't recommendations; the right eDPI is the one that feels controllable to you.

DPI × sensitivity = eDPI
DPISensitivityeDPI
4000.8320
8000.4320
16000.2320
8001.0800
16001.52400

We don't list "ideal" eDPI ranges per game. Published ranges vary by source and playstyle, and we can't verify one reliable figure, so we show the formula and let you compare against your own previous setup instead.

400 DPI × 0.81600 DPI × 0.2320 eDPI
Different setup, same eDPI. 400 DPI at 0.8 and 1600 DPI at 0.2 both give 320 eDPI, so the cursor speed is the same.

Frequently asked questions

What does eDPI stand for?

Effective DPI. It is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity, giving one number for how fast your cursor turns the view.

How do I calculate eDPI?

Multiply your DPI by your in-game sensitivity. At 800 DPI and 0.4 sensitivity, eDPI is 320.

Is a higher or lower eDPI better?

Neither. Higher is faster and needs less hand movement; lower is slower and needs more. Choose what you can control.

Can I compare eDPI between different games?

Only if the games use the same yaw. Otherwise convert cm/360 with the sensitivity converter, which accounts for each game's constant.

Does changing DPI change my eDPI?

Yes, if you don't adjust in-game sensitivity. Doubling DPI doubles eDPI unless you halve the sensitivity.

What is my eDPI in Valorant?

Enter your mouse DPI and Valorant sensitivity. For example, 800 DPI at 0.4 is 320 eDPI.

Is my data saved?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser.
